Multi-mode Microscopy Using Diffractive Optical Elements
This paper discusses a range of phase-diversity and tracking applications that have been demonstrated experimentally, and will present an analysis of experimental errors associated with the system used. Simultaneous imaging in multiple imaging modes is demonstrated and the use of wavefront-sensing techniques to achieve nanometric depth resolution is reviewed.
متن کاملMulti-plane super-resolution microscopy
Understanding cell functions is the major goal of molecular biology, which intends to elucidate the interactions between biomolecules at a subcellular level. One of the widely used techniques in molecular biology is fluorescence microscopy, which offers high specificity and sensitivity at the submicrometer spatial scale but is limited by diffraction to about 200nm lateral resolution, which is i...
متن کاملSelective plane illumination microscopy techniques in developmental biology.
Selective plane illumination microscopy (SPIM) and other fluorescence microscopy techniques in which a focused sheet of light serves to illuminate the sample have become increasingly popular in developmental studies. Fluorescence light-sheet microscopy bridges the gap in image quality between fluorescence stereomicroscopy and high-resolution imaging of fixed tissue sections. In addition, high d...
متن کاملDeep imaging in scattering media with selective plane illumination microscopy.
In most biological tissues, light scattering due to small differences in refractive index limits the depth of optical imaging systems. Two-photon microscopy (2PM), which significantly reduces the scattering of the excitation light, has emerged as the most common method to image deep within scattering biological tissue. This technique, however, requires high-power pulsed lasers that are both exp...
متن کاملAdvancing ovarian folliculometry with selective plane illumination microscopy
Determination of ovarian status and follicle monitoring are common methods of diagnosing female infertility. We evaluated the suitability of selective plane illumination microscopy (SPIM) for the study of ovarian follicles. The large field of view and fast acquisition speed of our SPIM system enables rendering of volumetric image stacks from intact whole porcine ovarian follicles, clearly visua...
